Care from Africa
Care From Africa is an organization that assists in recruiting Care Workers for employment in the United Kingdom. Helen Schuck is the recruiting agent in the Eastern Cape and Gauteng.
A Carer possesses very special qualities. She or he has the ability to blend common sense, flexibility and a sense of humour together, whilst consistently maintaining a manner that is both courteous and patient. Care From Africa represents Country Cousins, a temporary live in care agency established since 1959, that is part of the Nestor Healthcare Group, and whose aim it is to introduce high quality Carers to their many clients in the United Kingdom.
It is Care from Africa’s responsibility to carry out the initial vetting of prospective Carers, conduct interviews where all the necessary documentation is completed, and ensure the candidates fully understand the nature of the work involved as self-employed carers working through the Country Cousins agency. It is at this stage that time is taken to answer fully all concerns and questions the candidates may have, and to explain in detail what the various clients expect of their chosen Country Cousins.
All prospective Carers must hold a European Union Passport or a South African Passport together with an Ancestral Visa and preferably be over the age of forty. This is one of those unusual instances where the more mature person is preferred, ideally one who has a wealth of experience in homecare from which to draw. Besides being a companion for the elderly client, or sometimes clients, duties include cooking (three healthy meals a day), limited housework and shopping.
There is also a need for experienced Carers to assist their clients with personal care, sometimes of a limited nature, or perhaps, if the elderly client is bedridden, full personal care. There are three categories of care, and this will be discussed, in detail, during the interview.
Carers recruited from South Africa generally have the reputation of being of a high caliber, and their many skills can be employed in offering lots of TLC in a warm and professional manner. Remuneration is offered in Pounds Sterling and, with a healthy exchange rate, the right person can make a substantial amount of money, whilst being employed in a much respected and “caring” profession.
